Arturo Rodríguez, El Presidente de La Unión De Campesinos, habla sobre lo ocurrido el 23 de abril ‘día de lobby’, donde la Ley de Ca Employee Free Choice Act para Trabajadores Agrícolas fue aprobado por el senado de California.

En el programa de hoy Arturo Rodriguez hablo acera de varios tópicos que al final tuvieron triunfo. El jueves pasado el senado de CA aprobó el acta de libre elección del empleado campesino. Rodriguez comento que el senado escucho la propuesta y al final hubo un resultado de 23:14 a favor de que con solo una firma, el trabajador del campo tendrá el apoyo y representación de la Unión de Campesinos. Además de beneficiar a los/las trabajadores, las familias también gozaran de los beneficios. Al votar el trabajador no tendrá las mismas presiones de antes ni las amenazas, porque ahora su voz y voto cuentan. Por otra parte, triste pero triunfante las autoridades del condado de Kern presento cargos en contra del contratista y dos trabajadores por la muerte de la jovencita Maria Isabel Vásquez, que murió de insolación el año pasado. Seis personas fallecieron de insolación el año pasado en diferentes condados y ahora se están presionando a las autoridades para que haya justicia comento Rodriguez. Es necesario e importante que se reporte cualquier irregularidad en el trabajo. Rodriguez también nos informo que tuvo una junta con la Secretaria de Trabajo del Estado, Hilda Solís, acerca de las reglas que implemento la administración de Bush en contra de los trabajadores del estado y a los trabajadores huéspedes. Se esta pidiendo que esta reglas, ya que están suspendidas por el momento, se remuevan por completo y se implementen las reglas que se establecieron antes de la administración de Bush. Por ultimo Arturo Rodriguez anuncio que el próximo lunes y martes tendrán una junta en Washington, D.C. con el Presidente Obama y otros sindicatos y organizaciones para hablar acerca de la necesidad de una reforma migratoria integral y comprensiva. On today’s show Arturo Rodriguez touched on various topics that resulted in triumph. Last Thursday the CA senate approved the Employee Free Choice Act. Rodriguez stated that the senate held an audience and had a turn out of 23:14 in favor of having the farm workers sign for the union’s representation with no pressure or threats from employers or contractors. This act will not only benefit the farm worker, but it will include family members. On the other hand there was a sadly but victorious result in regards to the death of the young woman Maria Isabel Vasquez who died last year due to the heat. The Attorney General has presented charges against the contractor and two other employees for the dead of Maria Isabel Vasquez. During that same year six other farm workers died to heat exposure in different counties throughout CA, and now the DA’s office is being pressured to find justice within these counties and prevent future injuries or deaths due to heat exposure. It is necessary and crucial for farm workers to report any irregularities that occur in their jobs. Also, Rodriguez informed us about the meeting he held with the Secretary of Labor, Hilda Solis, regarding the rules that were implemented by the Bush administration against the farm workers here in the U.S. and the guest workers. She is being asked to remove these rules and regulations, which at this point are suspended, and reinstate the rules and regulations that were established before the Bush administration. Lastly, Arturo Rodriguez announced that he and other organizations will be meeting with President Obama to touch basis on how it is important that a comprehensive immigration reform should be passed.
