National Farm Worker Ministry
statement on the signing of the contract between the United Farm
Workers of America and Threemile Canyon Farms

| Over eighty years of ministry with
farm workers has convinced National Farm Worker Ministry that union
contracts are the farm workers’ best hope for a better life.
And so today, we congratulate the United Farm Workers of America
and Threemile Canyon Farms for signing their first union agreement.
We applaud the workers for the courage, persistence and commitment
that they have demonstrated these last several years in standing
up for their rights and we applaud Threemile Canyon Farms for recognizing
those rights.
National Farm Worker Ministry is an interfaith organization made
up of nearly forty national and regional religious groups. We are
grateful for the trust which the farm workers placed in the faith
communities to walk with them on the journey that resulted in this
historic day. We look forward now to continuing on a road that leads
to progress for all who contribute to the success of the agricultural
industry in the Northwest. And we look forward to enjoying and promoting
dairy products that are truly wholesome.
