Farm workers to deliver 60,000-plus petition signatures to Governor Brown
Several hundred farm workers will deliver more than 60-thousand petition signatures to Sacramento today. They are asking the governor to sign a bill into law that would allow farm workers to cast union election ballots from their homes, instead of casting votes at a workplace polling precinct. The United Farm Workers union says farm workers are routinely intimidated by bosses and labor contractors, when voting to unionize. The UFW has accused several local growers of pressuring farm workers not to sign such petitions.
