The UFW Foundation held a citizenship event this past Saturday, September 12 at the Bakersfield Adult School where over 150 participants obtained information about the naturalization process. UFW Foundation staff provided free information, advice, and study materials for the citizenship exam. Participants were given the opportunity to sign up for a second session where attorneys, volunteers and UFW Foundation representatives will provide help in filling out the N-400 form and preparing the application packet. The event was part of  the “Ya es hora ¡Ciudadanía!” campaign, a nationwide effort sponsored by NALEO (The National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials), Univision, Impremedia, and hundreds of community-based organizations. The “Ya es hora ¡Ciudadanía!” campaign was launched by a coalition of community organizations, religious organizations, public and private agencies and other leaders committed to  helping more people apply for citizenship in this country. The Bakersfield event was a success thanks to the help of our partners NALEO, Univision KABE-39, Radio Campesina and the Bakersfield Adult School.People who would like information about the citizenship process are encouraged to call the UFW Foundation at 1-877-881-8281.
