We all know that the number of years in a job also translates into knowledge & expertise. Taxpayers lose that when their state legislators are forced to leave office due to term limits. Existing law limits legislators to three-six years terms, in the Assembly and two-eight year terms, in the Senate.
Proposition 93 would shorten the overall number of years someone could serve in the Legislature from 14 to 12 but allow all those years to be served in either the Assembly or the State Senate. Proposition 93 will reform term limits to reduce partisanship by giving legislators more time to build knowledge in order to effectively work for taxpayers and less time campaigning for their next office.
