Props 94-97, would shower four wealthy tribes with billions in profits, but fail to ensure the most basic rights for casino workers, including decent wages, affordable health insurance and basic civil rights. Other problems include the standard comment period for the public regarding the environmental impact of casinos and that the language will not guarantee that revenue is directed at education in the State General Fund. If rejected, tribes would continue to operate their casinos under the 1999 compact.
Propositions 94, 95, 96, & 97 relate to gambling operations of the Pechanga, Morongo, Sycuan and the Agua Caliente Tribes, respectively, could potentially expand their casinos with up to 17,000–25,000 new slot machines.
