The UFW has just advised Threemile Canyon Farms that it is ready to be certified as the winner of a card check election. "An overwhelming number of workers at Threemile have signed union authorization cards indicating their desire for the UFW to represent them," said Erik Nicholson, Pacific Northwest Regional Director.
Threemile Canyon Farms and the UFW signed a landmark agreement on August 21. Threemile agreed to immediately negotiate a collective bargaining agreement with the union when a majority of workers indicate their support by signing union authorization cards. Under the terms of the agreement, a neutral third party will verify the cards against company payroll records. Threemile and the UFW have agreed to request that Governor Kulongoski name the neutral third party.
